The St. Mary's boys hockey team made the most of its Saturday trip to the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. Unfazed by the journey, the Spartans played "tough, disciplined hockey" according to their coach, Mark Lee, and defeated St. Peter-Marian 6-0.

Bucky Surette (Brendan Mageary, James Perkins) scored St. Mary's (5-1-3) lone goal in the first period before the team bolstered its lead with tallies by Julian Yourawski (Brian Wilkins, Bobby Mullins) and Zack Witkowski (Tim Aylward, Frank Moristhi) in the second period.

"(St. Peter-Marian) is a pretty good Division 1 team," Lee said. "We came out with continued intensity after a big win against Austin Prep."

St. Mary's doubled its lead in the third with a trio of goals by Cam Kennedy (Cam O'Neill, Jordan Manthorne), Mullins and O'Neill (Manthorne, Nikko Markham).

Donald Hesse made 12 saves to record his second consecutive shutout.
