School roundup: St. Mary's hockey ices St. Bernard's
The St. Mary's boys hockey team defeated St. Bernard's of Fitchburg for the second time this season, but the Spartans had to work a little harder the second time around.

In their first meeting, St. Mary's cruised to a 7-1 win. Round two was a little closer, but the Spartans pulled it out, 3-0, at Wallace Civic Center.

St. Mary's bombarded St. Bernard's keeper Chase Thornton with 48 shots, but only three found the back of the net. Bucky Surette scored at 5:34 of the first period with the assists going to Jordan Manthorne and Tom Braswell. Julian Yourawski made it 2-0 in the second (Bobby Mullins and Brendan Mageary assists) and it was Surette again in the third with Braswell getting the assist.

The Spartans, who outshot St. Bernard's 48-9, are 3-1-2 overall, 2-0-2 in the Catholic Central League.
