The St. Mary's boys hockey team defeated Coyle-Cassidy, 2-0, Monday, avoiding a letdown after a big win over league rival Arlington Catholic over the weekend.

"This could have been a trap game," St. Mary's coach Mark Lee said. "But the kids went out and played hard. I'm really proud of them."

Spartan goalie Donald Hesse had another stellar outing in net, recording his fourth shutout in the last five games. St. Mary's outshot Coyle-Cassidy, 39-18.

Bobby Mullins scored with 36 seconds remaining in the first period to give St. Mary's a 1-0 lead. Bucky Surette added an insurance goal with 20 seconds left in the game with assists from James Perkins and Nikko Markham. St. Mary's is 8-1-3 overall, 5-0-3 Catholic Central League.

The game was at CDL Rink in Raynham.
